Honestly, the first time I read about reuseable, washable menstrual pads my reaction was "how gross!" While I do believe in reducing, recycling, and reusing I have issues when it comes to bodily excretions. I couldn't even reuse cloth diapers when I had my first born over 30 years ago, I just couldn't get past the odor and decided no way was I dealing with it. I did try again with my second, third and fourth sons years later and well, I still couldn't stomach it so all the cloth diapers that didn't get thrown away became great burp cloths. I was surprised at myself when I decided to give some washable pads from Pink Lemonade Shop a try. Pink Lemonade Shop is an Ohio based business owned by Sue, a mom of 4, who specializes in high quality cloth menstrual pads and accessories.

I decided to try the set of the Animal Print Minky Mini Liners (shown above) first to see how well I liked them before even thinking about trying the menstrual cycle pads. This set of (5) 6 Inch Mini Liners has 1 pantyliner in each of the following Minky Prints: Zebra, Cheetah, Jaguar, Tiger, and Giraffe. The pantiliners are backed with water resistant Windpro Fleece and have tab style wings. They are thick and absorbent making them not only good for everyday freshness but also for the light days of my menstrual cycle. The liners would also be great for very light incontinence protection and are available in a 2 Inch (Original Width) and a 2 1/2 Inch (Wide Width). I find the liners to be very soft and a lot more comfortable to wear than disposable pads. I especially love that they have poly-resin snaps to keep the pad in place. Turns out that I really do like using these pads and I feel good knowing that I am helping the planet by reusing and reducing. If someone would have told me years ago that I would end up using this kind of product I would have laughed in their face. Now, I am seriously thinking about trying the menstrual pads.

Along with the 6 Inch Mini Pantyliners, the Pink Lemonade Shop has 7.5 Inch Regular Pantyliners, 7.5 Inch Thong Pantyliners, 8 Inch Light Pads, 9 Inch Day Pads, 10 Inch Heavy Pads, 11 Inch Overnight Pads, 12" Ultimate Overnight Pads, 13 Inch Post Partum Pads, Mama Cloth Pad Sets, Nursing Pads, Wetbags & Detergent. The pads come in a wide variety of colors and are made from different types of fabric such as organic bamboo fleece, hand dyed bamboo velour, lusciously soft Minky, and designer cotton woven prints. The pads bottom layer is made with high quality Water Resistant Fleece or breathable Wool Interlock. All the pads are machine washable in warm or cool temperature water and can be tumble dried in a warm or cool dry cycle.
