About A Heart's Promise:

Emmie makes a promise to her friend that, if fulfilled, could mean the end to her dreams of a future with Isaac.

Emmie Croftner let Isaac Liddle go to avoid telling him about her past. But Isaac remains determined to win Emmie's heart and hand. Though Emmie resolves to keep her heart in check, it hurts when she sees that another woman has set her bonnet for Isaac.

Then Emmie's dear friend extracts a costly promise: if anything happens to her in childbirth, Emmie will marry her widower and raise the baby herself. And it seems Emmie may have to fulfill that promise. But can she live happily without Isaac?

My thoughts:

In book five of the Journey of the Heart Series, Emmie finally tells her friends about her secret about her marriage not being real. She learns that her friends truly care about her and that they know it was not her fault, they will stand by her no matter what. Poor Emmie has learned to distrust men so it takes her awhile to see that not all men are the same. Even though her life has been tough it is encouraging to see that she is still a very giving person and a great friend to everyone.

In this day and age it is hard to imagine so many people living in one little home. I could see where it would be nice though to have a female companion to talk to, especially when living in a fort with so many men around. The women sure had to be brave to live in area with hostile indians and the cold. I enjoy reading historical fiction especially when I learn something, this one sure makes me appreciate the luxuries we have nowadays, such as heaters and hospitals to have babies in.

It is getting more interesting when one friend and two enemies come back in this book. Will the enemies succeed at destroying these peoples lives? I can't wait to start reading the next and last book on this series to find out! I have enjoyed getting to know all the characters in this series and how they grow in their faith.
