Do you enjoy cooking? Do you enjoy cooking cuisine from around the world? I do try to change things up a bit and try to cook dishes outside my comfort zone. On one occasion I found a recipe that called for a specific spice (Garam Marsala), I ended up looking in 3 different stores around town and couldn't find it. I looked it up on the internet thinking I might be able to make it myself but found out that it was too difficult to do. By the time I found it at a store 50 miles away from me, many months later, I couldn't find the recipe I even wanted the spice for! With RawSpiceBar you can receive 3 different flavor kits of spices from all over the world each month. Each flavor kit have been carefully blended for a specific regional theme by chefs and family recipes. To ensure freshness, the spices are not ground up until a few days before being shipped out.

I received the Ethiopian kit that came with; Pumpkin Pie Spice, Berbere, and Ethiopian Mitmita. Each kit arrives in a heavy envelope with an enclosed sheet with information about the region on the month and different recipes showing you how you can use each packet you receive.  I find this very convenient considering that I don't explore too much in the exotic seasonings department. There are recipe options for vegetarians, vegans, and carnivores. The label on each packet tells you about the spice ingredients enclosed and ideas on how to use the them.

I opened the Pumpking Pie one first and I was amazed at how potent the scent was. I don't mean in a bad way, I mean in a "Oh my goodness, that smells so fresh" and "I can't wait to use this in something" kind of way! Each packet has enough seasonings to use in dishes that serve from 8 to 12 persons so you can either make one big dish or 3 smaller ones. I used the pumpkin pie spice one for pies and in lattes so I had enough to last me awhile. I used the Berbere kit to make roasted potatoes and carrots that tasted delicious! We love spicy food so the Mitmita was the first to be used up in an elk stew and in dips for the holidays. My husband likes that I have stepped outside of the box and experiment more with exotic tasting dishes.
