About "High Cotton":

Some families are filled with so much love they can't help but drive each other crazy.

Shay Henke has mixed feelings about going to her family's next reunion. On the one hand, she'll get to see everyone in her mama's family--folks she loves unconditionally. On the other hand, she knows there'll be more drama than you can shake a stick at.

The days leading up to the event bring one surprise after another. First Shay must deal with her sister-in-law's deep, dark secret. Then she has to contend with the childish ways of her business-mogul twin cousins. And when her high school crush wants to be her date to the reunions . . . well, it may have been a dream come true for Shay's teen self, but the woman she's become doesn't know what to make of this.

Shay's contentment is challenged, and she's determined to shake things up a bit. But will she find the excitement she's looking for, or will Shay realize she prefers her quiet predictable life? One thing is certain: Life in the Bucklin family is never boring.

My thoughts:While Shay Henke is the main protagonist, a few of her relatives Sally, Puddin', and Missy are also important characters. Each one is dealing with personal issues and trying not to stress out as their family reunion approaches.
I can relate to Shay's apprehensiveness about family gatherings, despite the fact that as soon as I start talking to family members whom I haven't talked to for awhile, I start enjoying myself and forget all about my uneasiness.

The story doesn't have any sexual content just some family drama such as one family member getting injured at the reunion that actually turns out to be a blessing in disguise.

This is the first book I have read by Debby, I found the story-line believable and interesting enough to keep me from putting it down until I read the whole thing, which ended up being around 12:30 am. Reading about Missy's chicken chili made me hungry for some so I ended up making it for dinner that night.

High Cotton is the first book of Debby's Bucklin Family Reunion Series.
I have enjoyed getting to know these family members so much that I am looking forward to the second book in the series that will be released in the fall of this year. Purchase a copy of High Cotton on Amazon.
