Will I continue to feed my dogs a raw diet? #ChewyInfluenser

So the question is how did my dogs do while eating a raw diet and will I continue to keep them on this diet? After feeding them Only Natural Pet Freeze-Dried Raw Food for about a month I discovered a number of benefits.
  • They don't eat as much food as they used to but they seem to get enough to eat. I tried feeding them the same amount of RawNibs that they would normally get of their dry kibble and they ended up leaving some food in the bowl.
  • Not only are their poops smaller in size but they actually poop less, their poops don't smell as bad as they did when they ate their regular kibble, plus their poops seem to dry out and disintegrate faster. This tells me that their bodies are getting more nutrients out of the raw food than they were from their grain laden kibble.
  • Using dehydrated, freeze dried raw means I don't have to handle raw meat.
  • They no longer eat all my mother's little dog's food whenever we go visit.
  • They don't seem to suffer from skin allergies anymore.

While the package states that transitioning my dogs to eating raw could be done in as little as 10 days I opted to let them get used to the food over several weeks since they have very sensitive tummies. Redford tends to barf and Trixie gets the runs. During the transition, Trixie barfed once so I figured it was because she had eaten too much of the raw food at once. If they ever do have any digestive problems then I'll probably cut back on the raw and start using it as a food topper. That way they will still benefit from the RawNibs such as the protein from the chicken & organ meat, the vegetables & fruits will provide fiber and vitamins, and the goat's milk will give them enzymes, fatty acids, and electrolytes.

Ever since I started adding some warm water to the RawNibs both dogs decided that should be the only way they should eat it. If I forget to add the water they will follow me around until I realize the error of my ways. One day Trixie just wasn't hungry so I set her food on the counter for several hours, when she was finally ready to eat I was surprised that it wasn't mushy, it just got soft while still holding its form. It sure makes it a lot easier for Trixie to be able to consume her food considering she is now missing a lot of her teeth.

Although the feeding guidelines recommended 1/2 a heaping cup for Trixie and 1 whole cup for Redford a day, they actually chose to eat about 1/4 cup less than the recommended amount. Redford had been getting a little pudgy but he has slimmed down a little and Trixie actually looks a little heavier. Both of their coats look shiny and they don't scratch themselves as much as they used to. Most amazing is that Trixie doesn't spend her days licking herself instead she has been taking longer naps and plays again! So, yes, I have seen so many good benefits from them eating a raw diet that I will continue to do so. You can find Only Natural Pet Freeze-Dried Raw Food at Chewy
