Instinct by Nature's Variety Frozen Raw Bites Grain-Free Dog Food #Review #ChewyInfluenser

Disclosure: The writer received a product for free from Chewy as a condition of this publication. Regardless, all the opinions are those of the writer.

A couple of months ago I transitioned my dogs to a raw diet to see if it would help with their allergies. I used freeze dried nibs for the first couple of months, this month I decided to try Instinct by Nature's Variety Frozen Raw Bites Grain-Free Dog Food to see if my little fur babies would like it. I have always believed that variety is the spice of life so I like giving my pets some different food options just to see what each pet likes better.
I ordered the Small Breed size in the Natural Beef Flavor. Since both dogs have already been on a raw diet I did the transition a couple of days faster than the recommended 5-7 days. If they would have shown any stomach distress I would have take more time to changeover.

Since the food is frozen, not cooked, with cold-pressure processing, it has to remain so for the amount of time it takes to get to its destination, Chewy had the dog food sent in a box surrounded by styrofoam and dry ice. By the time I received it one of the dry ice packets had a little of the ice melted while the second packet was still intact. Considering our hot Arizona temperatures I was impressed with the frozen delivery.

The bites are the perfect size for Trixie who weighs only 6 lbs and has a small mouth. The ingredients: Beef, Beef Liver, Beef Kidney, Beef Spleen, Sweet Potatoes, Apples, Butternut Squash, Carrots, Montmorillonite Clay, Tricalcium Phosphate, Ground Flaxseed, Salmon Oil, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin D3 Supplement), Choline Chloride, Minerals (Zinc Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Calcium Iodate), Blueberries, Spinach, Dried Bacillus coagulans Fermentation Product. As you can see there is meat & organs, non GMO fruits, vegetables, vitamins and minerals. There is no grains like corn, wheat, soy, and there aren't any artificial colors or preservatives. The meat provides lean muscle for strength and energy while the fruits and vegetables provide probiotics for healthy digestive tracts.

The frozen bites thaw out very quickly. I have learned that I can't put the food dish down until the food has defrosted otherwise Trixie will eat it frozen!

Benefits of raw feeding: they poop a lot less. the poop doesn't smell as bad and it disintegrates faster. They don't spend the day scratching themselves and they actually beg a lot less at the dinner table so I assume it is because they are fuller longer.
