About An Amish Family Christmas:

In Shelley Shepard Gray's fourth book in her Charmed Amish Life series, an unlikely Amish romance reveals that Christmas is a time for family, miracles---and love.

Ever since his father died in a tragic fire, Levi Kinsinger has felt adrift. Newly returned to Charm, Ohio, Levi is trying to fit into his old life, only to discover he seems to have outgrown it.

But when Julia, his young widowed neighbor, asks for his help with a Christmas project, Levi finds a sense of purpose for the first time in months. She and her daughter are new to Charm and could use a friend, a job Levi takes personally. Soon enough, friendship grows into attraction, but Levi can't help having doubts. There's something about Julia that doesn't ring quite true . . .

Like Levi, Julia Kemps has survived her fair share of hardships---but only by hiding the truth of her past. Being an unmarried mother in an Amish community was unthinkable. Feeling hopeless, Julia did the only thing she could do: she moved to a new town and pretended to be a widow. But meeting Levi, she's hopeful for the first time. Little by little, she begins to imagine telling him her darkest secret, and eventually . . . perhaps even sharing her life with him.

Christmas is a time for family, and as the holiday draws closer, Julia and Levi will have to face their pasts together . . . in order to find the healing, support and love they so desperately desire.
My thoughts:

This is the fourth and last book of the Charmed Life Series, which is about four Kinsinger siblings who are struggling after the recent death of their father. Having lost their mother years earlier they all must work together to keep the family business and farm going. Levi Kinsinger struggled with accepting that his dear father was gone and that his brother was getting married so he ran away to Pinecraft where he lived and worked until Lukas informed him that he was needed at home after their sister Amelia ends up breaking her leg and can't manage the farm on her own anymore. When Levi moves back to Charm in order to help his siblings, he still feels such an incredible sense of loss that he just can't live in the family home anymore so he moves into a rental home. Julia is his new neighbor who has run away from an abusive relationship. Levi gets upset with Julia after finding out that she hasn't revealed her past to him. He realizes that he was not just irked with her for not trusting him but he was also irked at himself for not considering her physical suffering. Julia's abuser shows up in Charm with plans to take his daughter away from Julia in an attempt to get her back. Julia ends up discovering that she is a survivor and that lots of people cared for her. Levi moves back home after his recognizing that just because it appears as if his siblings have moved on with their lives, it doesn't mean that they don't mourn in their own way for their parents

I am sad that this is the last book in the CHARMing Series because I truly enjoyed reading each and every one. That moment when Levi realizes that he was putting his pain above Julia made me ponder a bit about some of the times that I have behaved as if am the only one who is suffering.  Purchase a copy on Amazon.
