To me, February means Valentine's Day, our wedding anniversary, and the Renaissance Festival! We like to celebrate Valentine's Day and our Anniversary by spending a fun filled day at the festival with family members. For the past 3 years we have gone with our youngest son, my brother and his wife. We have so much fun that I can't even imagine going with anyone else! If you are looking for a good time on the week-ends, you might want to check out the festival that is open in February through the end of March.

As you enter the shire you must get a map which comes in real handy for finding the privy's, games, rides, stages, food, and beverages. Be prepared to encounter the interesting villagers from the medieval period.

You just might encounter royalty! Last year I got a kiss on the hand from the prince, imagine my joy at meeting the queen!

Once we get hungry we go for the turkey legs first, then we find the beverages to wash down the delicious roasted meat. I always make sure to bring my "wench 'tis she" cup that I purchased at my first Renaissance Festival I went to with my sister back in 1999. There is a large selection of foods to purchase along with a Pleasure Feast where you can consume five courses of fine food.

Vegetable Justice is my son's favorite. The object of the game is to hit the person in the face with tomatoes, as he is insults you.

Birds of Prey Show

There are a lot of shows to entertain visitors. The shows change yearly and new ones are added, I can honestly say that I have never been bored at a festival.

If shopping is your thing you will find headpieces, jewelry, clothing and so much more. The best thing about celebrating at the festival is an excuse to buy a new memento.

We just so happened to go during a very cold day due to a winter storm that was coming in. It did warm up later in the afternoon so make sure you bring sunscreen for the warmer days.
