About Catching Faith:

John and Alexa Taylor appear to have the perfect life – they’re the envy of all the parents in town. Their son Beau is the high school football star and their daughter Ravyn is a straight-A student. But when Beau is caught drinking alcohol, his place on the team and his bright future are on the line. With the football season at stake and the judgmental community turning their backs on them, every member of the Taylor family is at a crossroads. Now, they must find the strength from one another, and the spiritual courage from within, to prove that faith and family is the only score that really matters.

My thoughts:

This movie is about a family's progress towards a genuine relationship with God. It really hit home on so many levels. We would all like to think our family members have integrity, we won't really know until we are tested. I can relate to the wanting to be so perfect that my family thought that nothing they ever did was ever good enough. I had to go through a really rough patch like this family to be able to see that I am not in control only God is. I have gone back and watch videos of opening Christmas gifts and I found fault with almsot everything. . I could see Ravyn's perfectionist tendencies showing through in her desire to cheat to make sure she makes Valedictorian. It reminded me about a real eye opening experience not that long ago when my youngest son was very upset that his report card had all A's but two weren't A+'s. I realized then that he is also a perfectionist and had to explain that we are proud of him and that we do not expect him to be perfect, we just want him to enjoy learning without stressing over it

Alexa's husband was very forgiving even though he was visibly upset when he found out that Alexa traded his gift for one she wanted. In one scene Alexa's mother states that "presentation is everything", and then we see the flowers slowly lose their petals representing beauty that doesn't last. I also really liked the bible study that Alexa and her friends did in the movie called "The Elijah Project". The Elijah Project Workbook is a self care study full of interactive activities that offer an opportunity for reflection. I plan on getting myself the adult copy and the children's copy for my son so that we can incorporate it into our homeschool bible study.

In the end Alexa learns who her real friends are and she develops a real relationship with her children and mother. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed viewing this movie and give it five stars!
