Aroma Rice Cooker & Food Steamer Review

The  Aroma Rice Cooker and Food Steamer (ARC-150SB) cooks White Rice, Brown Rice, Steams, and is a Slow Cooker all in one. It is digitally controlled and the stainless steel exterior stays cool while cooking.

The Rice Cooker and Food Steamer comes with a non-stick inner cooking pot, steam tray, measuring cup, a serving spatula an the instruction manual that comes with recipes.

To make rice simply add the measured rice, then add the water to the measured line inside inner cooking pot, put the inner cooking pot inside the rice cooker, close the hinged locking lid, and push the button for the type of rice you want cooked; brown or white. You can make 4-20 cups of rice with this 3 quart inner cooking pot.

Set the timer and the machine beeps to let you know know when the rice or food items are done. After it beeps the machine will automatically switch to "keep-warm" mode. The display will show you how many hours it has been on "keep-warm".

Make healthy on -pot meals by steaming food in the steam tray above the inner cooking pot at the same time you make rice or by itself.  For the above meal I cooked the rice before I steamed the green beans and Tilapia. Unfortunately, I didn't follow a recipe and I didn't allow enough cooking time for the Tilapia so the bottom piece fish came out a little undone. I microwaved it for 30 seconds and it was done. The green beans were perfectly steamed. I didn't get a picture of my finished food because my father came over and I was so excited to feed him out of my new cooker that I forgot to take one!

I can make Spanish rice on the stove, no problem. But when I try to make rice steamed on the stove in a saucepan, I have never had any luck. The only way I have been able to make steamed rice is in the microwave with the pre-set rice button. Most of the time it comes out but occasionally I have to cook it longer because the rice didn't cook all the way through. I am so glad I don't have to worry anymore. I can make rice overnight and have it for breakfast in the morning or have rice cooking for dinner while I am running errands in the late afternoon. I haven't had an opportunity to try the Slow Cooker Feature but I am pretty sure it would work as great as the Rice Cooker and Steamer do. The Slow Cooker can be set for 2-10 hours of slow cooking time. Another great feature is the "Delay Timer" that allows you to set it to start cooking the rice at the time specified and when you get home your rice is ready.
