I was not familiar with the Graeter’s Ice Cream dessert brand.  After hearing about its award winning ice cream from some family members I decided to to some research. "The brand was founded over 146 years ago in Cincinnati, OH. The fourth-generation family owned and operated company has perfected the art of using the French Pot, a traditional, small batch artisanal process of making ice cream."  Known for their indulgent, premium flavors and ingredients, they’re also widely recognized for their gargantuan gourmet chocolate chips.

I brought home the only three flavors that our local Fry's had available; Madagascar Vanilla Bean, Black Cherry Chocolate Chip, and Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip. I assumed we would all share equally, boy was I wrong!

My husband tried the Black Cherry Chocolate Chip after dinner one night, after consuming about a fourth of it he told me that it was very creamy and tasted delicious. The next night he ending up eating the last 3/4 of it. He says to me as he is holding his stomach "It was so good that I had to eat the whole thing, the chunks of chocolate in it were so huge!" Fortunately for me I was able to get about a teaspoonful to taste for myself, otherwise I wouldn't have a clue what it tasted like.

My 12 year old sugar addict son opted to try the Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip. Yes, I hurriedly nabbed a quick teaspoonful from him because he is very much like his father so I assumed it would be gone that night. Funny thing is he didn't scarf his container up in a couple of days, he enjoyed it so much that he made it last for about a week.

Now you would think that I would get to enjoy the last container of Graeter's that I had brought home but no...

I happened to walk past my son just as he was enjoying the Madagascar Vanilla Bean ice cream. As I stood there with my eyes wide and my mouth gaping he gives me his I am so cute smile that melts my heart every time. So I shared, making sure this time that I got a decent sized portion.

Now, after getting to enjoy eating more than a teaspoonful I could really understand why my husband ate most of his all at once and why my son took his time. So I ate all of my portion very, very slowly so I could savor every delicious bite.

You might find some of their more than 28 flavors in your local store.
If you are on a low glycemic diet Graeter's has 4 different flavors for you to choose from. Visit Graeter's to learn more about this creamy and delectable ice cream and to see what new seasonal flavors they are currently offering.
